Mini Review - L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24 Hour Foundation

As someone with fair and dry skin, I always seem to have a constant challenge to find a matte foundation right for me for those times when it is humid and I just want a little shine to my skin, not for my face to look wet (as some dewy foundations can in the summer). I have seen a lot of people rave about this product and as this is my first review I really don't want to say anything negative but I hated it.

The product, when applied, looked very cakey on my skin and even though I am the palest shade (Porcelain), it still seemed to leave a little bit of an orange undertone to my skin which my boyfriend commented on and normally, he never notices if anything else is wrong with my make up, so I knew this was a big downfall for the foundation. It claims to have a 'no mask effect' but I'm really not so sure, I felt as though I did have product on my face.

When someone says they have 'dry skin' I sometimes get very envious when they have the smallest of dry patches as I have seriously dry skin, what no amount of moisturising or exfoliation can get rid of. I am dry all over my body, not just my face. After reading reviews, I found this not to stick to dry patches but if you would consider yourself to have drier patches than the 'average', I really would stay clear.

Also, as I am nearly 20, I was expecting to be coming to the end of my acne breakouts due to hormones. My skin was clear from a single blemish for around 3 months and as soon as I used this product I have blemishes around my chin, mouth and side of my cheeks. My cheek blemishes are still as stubborn as they were when they first arrived which was about 2 weeks ago and normally it leads to scaring in this area on me so I'm really hoping this product hasn't caused this.

When the blemishes started to occur, I tried to cover them with this foundation and after 4 hours my face was getting really hot and my blemishes started to throb. When I looked in the mirror my face wasn't red (I thought I may have been having an allergic reaction or had a sunburn) but you could visibly see where the foundation was sitting on my acne breakout and it wasn't attractive. Once I had rinsed my face in a public bathroom, my face instantly started feeling better.. quite scary how a foundation, potentially, can cause something like that!

I really wanted to like this product but honestly, it has made the aftermath of the application really itchy and aggravating for me. I have never actually used a L'Oreal foundation before this but have used their eyeshadows, lipsticks and blushes so I don't think I am allergic to their products but it may be this product my skin doesn't like.

However, I have read good reviews on this foundation so if you don't have any skin problems, I would definitely check out these reviews.

If you have sensitive, spot prone or super dry skin, I would ask for a tester or test this on yourself in a store before purchasing.
